Making the banana was the hardest thing for me. I'm really not happy with it at all. I unfortunately did not have the time to sand it down in order to show the planes that the fruit had. The cutting of the circles and gluing them all together took a million times longer than anticipated and I just got so incredibly frustrated with it. It was making my quite anxious and was not an enjoyable experience for me -- unlike creating my own piece. Doing that was so relaxing and I loved creating it. Sadly, this is what I turned in for my fruit recreation.
While creating my own piece I was going off of several images I had found on the internet. I had no idea how I could possibly combine them or how they even fit together but I was able to accomplish it and I am extremely proud of this piece. The spiraling and topsy-turvyness of this piece came from two images. The first of a spiral staircase and the second of a building that looked like it could fall at any point in time. (All of the images I'm discussing can be found in my post "Paper Stacking Inspiration")
The protruding features came from an image of a tree as well as of a brick wall. I loved the texture of the wall and wanted to find a way to incorperate it and I think that I was able to accomplish that as well.
The hole in the center as well as the shape was inspired by a wall paper
stacking. The color came from me trying to see if the paper would first soak up blue ink and then procede to soak up yellow ink and in the process some of the ink turn green. It worked to a certain extent but not quite as well as I wanted so I just stuck with painting with those three color inks.
